That increase comes from the American fallacy that we can have ever-increasing government services while cutting taxes.
I wonder how much of the enormous real-terms is also down to the reduction in the inflation rate over the last 25 years? Suerly they'll try to inflate away some of the burden (i.e. transfer some of the cost to cash savers and foreign lenders).
Shouldn't the bit labelled Clinton actually be labelled Newt Gingrich?
He was Newtralised, wasn't he?
