A mob of black people, their faces contorted with rage at the killing of George Floyd 3,900 miles away, spontaneously pull down a 125-year-old statue and roll it into Bristol harbour.

The UK is a slightly different matter.

Here in the US, most of the Southern Civil War statues were erected in the 1960's by segregationists, who wanted to reinforce the lessons of Jim Crow. Read 'Lies across America'.

I;d say it's a very different matter. This is tw*ts on parade. 50 years ago they'd have been spray-stencilling Ho Chi Minh posters on Oxford walls.
