I dispute the completeness of the Professor's account of Georgia. There have been Russian controlled enclaves in Georgia (Abkhazia, right next to Sochi, and South Ossetia since 1993). The war he refers to related to South Ossetia when Georgia tried to resume control. Russia used that as a pretext to invade leading to formalisation of the Russian protectorate of Sout Ossetia. Russia has maintained occupation forces in Transnistria since 1992.
