Raedwald proposes regulating the content of the Koran and policing its followers; I differ and offer this approach instead, saying there:
I think the way forward is in influencing interpretation rather than Bowdlerising. The Bible has parts that should also make us squirm, e.g. Exodus 22:
"18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live" - King James I had a merry time on that - and among the 613 Mitzvot commandments:
"611.Always to remember what Amalek did (Deut. 25:17) (CCA76).
612.That the evil done to us by Amalek shall not be forgotten (Deut. 25:19) (CCN194).
613.To destroy the seed of Amalek (Deut. 25:19) (CCA77)."
Some say the Amalekites were indeed exterminated and so these injunctions are now redundant; others say the Armenians are Amalek-descended (see http://www.schechter.edu/AskTheRabbi.aspx?ID=530)
Fact is, most people are selective about their religious practices and if society in general is running smoothly they don't concern themselves with the bloody bits. Education and open (liberal in the best sense) discussion are needed - evil festers where the like-minded gather and develop their groupthink and ideological drift. That goes for our homegrown WBRI-classified soi-disant-patriotic Jew-and-Muslim-haters, too.

Apparently, ISIS is choosing the bits of the Q'uran that they like, and ignoring the rest, just like any fanatics.
There is such a thing as taking elementary precautions as well of course.

Much better to teach Arabic.
Here is a very good explanation of why ISIS/ISIL really ought to be called Daesh (or Da'ish) and why the British media are too ignorant to understand why-

Worth reading also this link in full in which is explained, among other things, the correct meaning of Jihad-

"The Bible has parts that should also make us squirm, e.g. Exodus 22:"
That is the old testament, Christ's teachings are in the New Testament.
Sakerson: "the British media are too ignorant to understand why-"
It's not about ignorance, although the British media are ignorant, what it's about is revealed in the text you linked to :-
"and thus drives them to threaten taking violent retribution on anyone who uses it."
The British media are too spineless, they mouth platitudes about free speech but when it comes to standing up in support of free speech, ..... crickets!
@APL: The Church in England never confined itself to the new Testament, and Jesus certainly didn't. Matthew 5 may be relevant here:
"17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
"18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled."
Also, you appear to be putting words into my mouth (your third sentence) - perhaps you didn't mean to.
But I agree with what appears to be the main thriust of your comment, which is that all things may be discussed openly.
And how does the average CoE follower like bacon, shrimp, or lobster?
Like I said, selective. Though the dietary prohibitions were probably, as our mother said, to do with experience re pollution and rot in the hot Middle East.
