Shaking off the EU is only part of the story. There are UN tentacles too. Ultimately it may be necessary to accept that the world is changing and national self-determination is and probably always was a romantic dream.

The abandonment of hope is a minor objective in the greater plan. An element of liberty is unending resistance.
Sackers - I agree. Unending resistance is fun too.
The bigger the system gets, the more dystopian life becomes at the bottom of the pyramid. Unless of course there is separation of small communities working in their own interests under the radar of the global hierarchy.
There's an idea for a novel in there I think.
BB - something like Swiss cantons could be a start, but if the pyramid is too large there may still be too many layers.
