Market signals

At the hospital shop, a woman puts a £1.15 bottle of mineral water on the counter. The till operator says, "If you buy a Telegraph, the water's free."
"How much is the Telegraph?"
"90p."
"Okay." She rings it up. "Do you want the paper?"
"No."
She folds it and puts it to one side.

Everybody happy.

  1. She must have been a socialist. A conservative would take the paper to the wards and offer it to a patient or put it in the day room.

  2. "Everybody happy"

Except, presumably, the Telegraph's marketing people.

otoh, since from the evidence they are obviously stupid, perhaps that doesn't matter.

Unfortunately, because of a plague of spam comments, you need to be a "registered user", otherwise your observations will be buried in a torrent of multilingual nonsense. Please do comment!

Say what you please, so long as it's phrased politely and is not libellous or legally proscribed. Fact, reason and wit are keenly welcomed.
