Straws in the wind

You feel the change of weather before you see the clouds. The tone is changing. It's getting darker, angrier.

If you follow Cranmer, or Wat Tyler, or Jesse, or even the usually half-clowning Mogambo Guru, you'll see what I mean. Even mainstream journalists like Max Hastings and William Rees-Mogg have adopted language and ideas I would not have expected from them.

I can understand why it's happening, but this does not bode well.

O Freunde, nicht diese Töne!
Sondern lasst uns angenehmere anstimmen
Und freudenvollere!

  1. I agree. We are in a phoney war. We have plugged the holes in the dikes and the water is no longer pouring through. But the fundamental problems still remain, and have yet to be resolved, namely too much debt, an unbalanced economy, too much govt spending etc etc. These chickens will come home to roost in the next few years - the consequences are as yet unknown, but are sure to be significant.

Say what you please, so long as it's phrased politely and is not libellous or legally proscribed. Fact, reason and wit are keenly welcomed.
